This weekend’s surveys

Welcome to a quick update, with a reminder about this weekend’s surveys, and an impressive map! This Monday more than 20 people attended a training session at Meeth with Saving Devon”s Treescapes, and we found four beautiful nests there. There has also been a rather lovely flurry of records coming in, so the crisp weather is obviously helping people get out after such a long wet spell.

Thank you everyone who has sent in a nest/survey record this week: we now have 7 new records in the last week alone.

This weekend is obviously a busy weekend for lots of people, but if you fancy getting outside and looking for nests as part of a group, then we have surveys at both the very furthest west and east of the county: Saturday afternoon at 1.30 we are meeting at Trinity Hill EDDC reserve, near Axminster. Sunday is the rearranged survey at Coombe Mill near St Giles in the Heath. We’ll be meeting at the Coronation Village Hall, PL15 9SA. Please park right at the back of the carpark, meeting at 1.30pm. We’ll then travel to the site in convoy or car share according to how many people can make it. Please bring a hot drink-I’ll provide the mince pies!

The map below is an annotated one, but shows how we have had seven records from across the county just in the last seven days: a great result!
